georgie 1
HiJust read in the local newspaper that the new airport will be opening on 2 May 2010 and the Durban airport will cease to exist. Looking at the brighter side of things. We'll be flying directly from La Mercy to Australia.

georgie 1
Got this info off the net... "Airlines and destinationsWhile it is still too early to know what flights will operate out of King Shaka International Airport, it is expected that all flights handled by Durban International Airport will be transferred to KSIA when it opens, possibly overnight. ACSA, as of October 25, 2008, is in the process of appointing an unnamed German consultancy firm that was involved in a similar change-over in Münich for advice with regards to the changeover between KSIA and DIA.Emirates Airline will commence daily flights to the existing Durban International Airport starting October 1, 2009, and is thus the first confirmed overseas carrier to make an appearance at the airport with flights from Dubai. Possible additional international routes for KSIA in the future are London, Frankfurt, Singapore, Hong Kong and Mumbai. The South African Civil Aviation Authority has announced that Durban will serve as the gateway for any additional flights to/from the Far East or Australasia during the 2010 World Cup."
