Almost Aussie
Can’t assist with any knowledge on accommodation in Maylands but it’s 5km from the CBD and close to things like the racecourses, the Members Equity stadium (new home for the Western Force) etc. It’s an older suburb with well established infrastructure with a population of 10000. The median house price is $560000 and the crime rate is on par with the Perth average, although the assault rate of 15 per 1000 heads is much higher than the Perth average of 9 per 1000 heads. Don’t read too much into this as Maylands have some pubs and hotels where these things normally occur and keep in mind in Australia an argument and/or push around is often classified as an assault. Unlike most countries where this won’t even make the stats board. Sorry, can’t assist much more than this.

zetman
Hi There,For short term, furnished accomodation/apartments (ie. self contained accomodation in SA terms) you can have a look at websites like http://www.questapartments.com.au/ ; http://www.waldorf.com.au/ ; http://www.medina.com.au/Most of these companies offer reduced rates for longer stays, but the benefit is it is not treated as a rental tenancy so you don't have to go through the tenancy ckecks, don't need an execissive deposit and can move out at short notice. Brace yourself though, quality short term accomodation in Perth can be pretty pricey - don't know what your budget is...By the way the typical options for longer term accomodation are www.realestate.com.au and www.reiwa.com.au which offer rentals - but these are for tenancies and seldom for shorter than 6 months. The other options is to look at http://perth.gumtree.com.au/ which is a classifieds site where people advertise short term accomodation privately; the link to the short term stuff is http://perth.gumtree.com.au/f-Unit-House-R...W0QQCatIdZ18295From a council point of view Perth is devided into various city's and each city has a website with a wealth of local information about the area - things to do, facilities etc. Mayland is in the City of Bayswater, their site is http://www.bayswater.wa.gov.au/Hope that helps.
