Garrick
Ok, so we move to Oz on PR, but we still have SA citizenship. We register for tax in Oz and pay tax there. If we ever fly back to SA on holiday, are we expected/required to pay customs tax on anything we take with that we didn't already have in SA before we left? It's all going to be really bizarre oneday... especially for me and our baby who will oneday hold tri-nationality... (French/SA/Oz)... -G
Mara
The answer is no, as you are an Australian resident, you will not have to pay customs tax in SA. Just a bit of news for you, you will probably have to relinquish one of those citizenships, I do not think that Aus caters for tri-nationalities, only two. I know people with Australian/South African/Canadian, as well as those with Australian/South African/UK.
