Linda
I phoned home affairs again, got no joy but begged them to give me another number to phone, they gave me head office number. Spoke to a lady there that said that they're still looking for the BI30 document (the one where all the witnesses sign when you get married) and if I want to speed it up, I must phone the dominee and get it myself ... which I did. Faxed it through to them. So it should come through soon.If anyone struggles with something like this and you don't want to speak to the incompetent people at home affairs, here's the Head office number: (012) 810 6447 or (012) 810 6456 - Mrs van Loggerenberg. She's very friendly and useful. Thanks for the replies, really appreciate it.Linda
starfish
Hi LindaYou definitely need this document. I applied for mine at Home Affairs late December last year, along with unabridged birth certificates for my wife and daughter. The birth certificates took around 3 months to arrive, but the marriage certificate did not materialise. As I was awaiting my skills assessment to be approved, this wasn't an issue until the time came when I was ready to lodge the PR application, and the document still hadn't arrived, despite many visits, phone calls and queries to Home Affairs. My agent had given me a name and contact number of a company who specialise in getting documents from HA quickly - but at a price.I paid the princely sum of R600, and had the marriage certificate in under 10 working days. I don't know how they do it (I'm not sure I want to know either) but it worked. If you need their details, PM me.
