Guest Bronwyn
Hallo Ekke! Ek gaan maar in Engels skryf. Welcome to the forum, I hope you meet lots of friends here and get a lot of information. Where do you want to move to and do you have a family already? Watse werk doen jy en jou man? Of werk net jou man op hierdie stadium?Anyone who has lived in Maputo for 2 and a half years already has 'hare op hulle tande' and I take my hat off to you and your family. It's not an easy place to live, I'm sure.I've only been there once, in 1998 (before the massive floods and all the subsequent foreign investment). It is actually a beautiful place, but the people were so impoverished and the buildings were still bombed out and looked really bad. We stayed at the Polana and I actually felt bad, because it's this 5-star luxury (the Queen of England was also staying in the same hotel as us - we went on business), and then you go out of the gates and it is absolute poverty like I've never seen before or since....then you go back in at the end of the day and it's all USD 30 salads and pool-boys... I remember the amazing electric lightning storms over the sea and the fantastic seafood paellas and prawns I am interested to hear what it's like actually living there nowadays? If you get some time, let us know?Good luck with your application & regards, Bronwyn
Dreamcatcher
Hi Ekke, Welkom hier by ons! Groetnis,Dreamy

Ekke
Good Day AllBronwyn after 2 years i have got " Job se genade " . My husband is a bean counter and we were hoping to settel in Western Aus . Polana is still the place to stay but they have moved the casino to the Marginal near Costa Do Sol . Moz is moving to upliftment but at a snails pace and poverty is still bad bad bad .I will mis the bush very much just as Dreamy says the smells after a rain storm and all the animal noises when the sun goes down . But they say the Aus outback is just as nice . Chatterbug with a name like Leylani do you blame me for using Ekke . I dont know what my Mom were thinking ? And thats the only word I can spell .Ha ha ha yes I am blond . Thanks for all your friendly words and advise you guys are great .Regards Ekke
Bob
Lani, I don't want to push you in any particular way, but the Australian bush isn't so bad. I travelled to South Africa in 1985 and the country townships there were not unlike Australian country townships in many ways. If you are at ease with the bush and country town life in South Africa, then the bush and country town life in Australia will have something in common. It is easier to get into Australia if you want to live and work in a country town. You could do worse! . . . . . you could live in the city!
