arabella164
I am a maxillo-facial and oral surgeon who has been on the Gold Coast for the past 18 months. Back in South Africa, "we had contacts" and also new our colleagues very well to know who were the good practitioners.I have found the general standard of medical care (both GP and specialist) in Australia to be well below par - much lower than South African standards. With minor ailments with my wife and baby daughter, even my diagnostic skills have been better than the standard response - "wait a few days and we'll see, or try getting this form the pharmacy".I need to find a decent family practitioner on the Gold Coast - being a South African will give him/her an advantage, but is not essential. Are there any recommendations?
Tri-nations
Let me know if you find any. My experience was that my daughter was last patient for the day and during the 9 minute consultation she probably looked at her watch 7 times. Didn't even bother with a goodbye. Was nearly out the door before us. I read somewhere that the government tells doctors to see xx amount of patients a day - something to do with medicare funding. adeleb
DR OA Boshoff at Harbour Town Shopping Village in the Goldcoast. I'm not sure if this is where he is still, but he used to be our GP when he was in South-Africa.

Johnsons
Oh yes, I'm looking for a good dentist on the Gold Coast! Doesn't have to be ex-South African, referrals are better than looking online.

Are there any recommendations?Hi MohammedmI also love Dr. Fisser at Merridown Family Surgery. He's great, typical South AFrican Doctor. We live just opposite the surgery and went there because it was convenient I didn't even know that he was there till my second visit. Now I won't see any other doctor.I know there's also a fantastic S.A doctor in Burleigh, don't know his name, but will find out and send you the details. I was referred to him by my Australian friend, she thinks he's the best.
chelseabun74
My favourite is Dr Riaan Jeffry at Christine Corner on Christine Ave in Varsity Lakes. He's South African and ***very*** popular and respected. Zaffergirl, is that you?? My neighbour and friend? LOL. I know I also live across from the very esteemed Dr Fisser in Merridown. Hubby went there the other day and had nothing but great things to say about him too!
