Veronique
Hi BrisbaniteMy company specialises in helping South Africans coming to Brisbane to relocate and for look and see visits. We can assist you by finding accommodation, meet and greet at airport, providing basic food essentials upon arrival, providing personal assisted tours of preferred areas, etc. If you want more information you can take a look at the Look and See page on our website: www.sa2brisbane.com/lookandsee.html We have rescued several families from staying in very grotty accommodation which they found on the internet, as we do property inspections upon request. Internet photos can be very deceptive. Although Brisbane is a lovely city there are some 'not so nice' areas. If you are interested and want a no obligation quotation please send me a PM. Sassyninja
Sorry to revive this topic - wondering the same thing... If we wanted to experience what it would like to live in Gold Coast - near good primary schools - where would you suggest we stay on our LSD? Thanks in advance!

There is furnished accommodation in Varsity Lakes, Varsity lakes has one of the best public schools here on the GC, you need to live in the area and be in the zoning for your kids to get in, so I would suggest renting a holiday place there for a week or so. Most of the junior public schools are good though, its the high school you have to worry about.
Sassyninja
Thanks Heather... Been and back already, Gold Coast looked awesome, however I dont think there are enough job opportunities (IT) for my husband and I there. Looks like the decision is now between Melbourne or Brisbane. (ON account that we could never own our own home in Sydney)
Mara
@Sassyninja Wow, now that decision would be like two worlds apart! Hot or cold, humid or dry, flood or drought, sorry, could not resist. Good luck with your decision, which I think is an excellent strategy. I have always said you cannot eat sunshine, so the job does have to come first! Sassyninja
Tell me about it - thought we decided Melbourne yesterday but then I have to consider being closer to children in case they need me during day?
Heather
Fair enough - my daughter is in IT on the coast and has never had trouble finding work, but not with big corporate firms.. Hopefully you find the best place for you its always daunting.
