Dear forum members,

As a SIR VISA Holder at 6 months we filled out a survey sent to us by DIMA. Now at 18 Months they have requested that we do it again. They have however sent us some of the results of the 6 month survey so far.

I am putting the figures here that it may give people who are in the process deciding to go the SIR route some insights.

Employment rate

Principle applicant 82 %

Spouse/Partners 73 %

Skill level

Principle applicant

Of the employed 72% in skilled positions

Spouse/Partner

Of the employed 44% in skilled positions

Time to find a Job

52% within the first month

82% within the first three months

Attitude to job

81% thought their current job was really good

Whether job was nominated occupation

62% reported they were working in their nominated occupation

The main reason given for not working in their nominated occupation was that there weren't enough jobs in the region.

Hours worked

84% worked 35 hours per week or more

Income

Median income applicant $38,500

Spouse/Partner $31,200

87% thought that it was the right decision to emigrate 12% undecided

Those are about the highlights I would say from the figures and should give people a more balanced view of the success rate on the SIR VISA.

Cheers

Arthur
