Role Title Assistant Accountant

Reporting to Finance Manager, Sydney

PLEASE ATTACH ORGANISATION CHART

Role purpose To assist the Finance Manager with the efficient, daily running of the finance and accounting functions.

You must have hands on approach and the ability to consistently meet operational deadlines.

Key accountabilities or main areas of responsibility

• Provide support and supervision for Accounts Payable

• Assist in the preparation fortnightly payroll and maintain annual leave records.

• Responsible for monthly nominal ledger reconciliations, including banks and other control accounts, ensuring that the reconciling items are actioned and correct.

• Responsible for daily bank reconciliations.

• Ensure the purchase order policy and procurement policy is adhered to.

• Assist in the preparation of BAS, GST & FBT returns

• Ensure staff expenses are properly calculated, conducive to policy and paid correctly.

• Prepare, analyse and report on a monthly basis results against budget and report on variances.

• Assist in determining budgetary requirements and participate in the yearly budget and quarterly reforecast process.

• Monthly Sales forecast.

• Assist in the establishment and maintenance of financial and accounting policies, procedures and controls.

• Preparation of statutory reporting obligations including those of Bureau of Statistics and other government departments.

• 3 years working experience in related industry

• Good communication skills, understanding of brands and strategic development

• Good interpersonal, analytical & presentation skills, and professional approach to work

• Independent, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Ability to set targets, ensure measurability and be accountable

• Knowledge of PC and common soft ware application, and flair for digital design

Other considerations impacting on the role, eg. environment, which have not been highlighted elsewhere

• Extensive accounting experience, Accounts Payable and General Ledger.

• Computer literate with excellent Excel skills.

• Proactive approach and ability to use initiative to solve day to day problems.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Proven team player with a flexible attitude.

• Airline experience desirable, but not essential
