Project Manager

About the team:

The Business Planning & Delivery department is responsible for the management, operation and strategic direction of Virgin Mobile Australia’s (VMA) Projects. Projects include enhancements to existing business operations and new initiatives. The Department consists of Portfolio Management, Project Management, Business Analysis and Testing.

About the gig:

It is the Project Manager’s responsibility to work with the Program Manager, Product Delivery to plan and execute the annual change program. This includes assisting the business with budgeting, feasibility studies, resource planning and business case development.

The Project Manager is responsible and accountable for the leadership, management and delivery of assigned programs and projects to support the realization of the company’s business plan.

The Project Manager promotes understanding and assists the business to engage with the Change Management and Project Management processes. This includes supporting concept and business case development. In partnership with the business, the Project Manager contributes to the development of the Change Management process that governs project initiation, classification and approval. In partnership with the Project Management group, the project manager is responsible for project methodology, ensuring an appropriate level of project governance in line with business environment and need.

The Project Manager is responsible for providing support and guidance to other Project Managers. As required, the Project Manager may be required to manage a number of short-term contract or vendor project managers that fall under an allocated project.

It is imperative the Project Manager has strong communication and influencing skills and has a proven track record of successfully delivering projects in a matrix environment.

Key aspects of the role:

· Assistance to the Program Manager in planning and executing the organisation’s annual program

· Development and promotion of Change Management and Project Management processes

· Program Management

· Project Management

· Support & guidance to other Project Managers throughout the organisation

· Management of short term contract staff as required

· Vendor Management as required

About U:

Knowledge & Experience Required

· Minimum of 5 years experience in delivering complex, cross functional programs and projects

· Minimum of 5 years experience in a service and technology environment

· Change Management

· Commercial Awareness, understanding of the End-to-End Business Processes and financial concepts

· Vendor Management

· Project Management qualifications and accreditation considered an advantage

· Concise and accurate communication (written, verbal and presentation)

· Problem analysis, management and resolution
