I still live in Cape Town and am planning on moving to Canada (so I'm really a visitor over here from the Canada Forum). But anyway, here are some of my thoughts.
No one really knows what the future holds for SA. The so-called experts, political commentators, and economic hotshots have no better clue than anyone else.
My view is that it's important to have a foreign passport (which I don't). If one has a foreign passport and some form of roots in another country, however tenuous, then it's feasible to come back to SA. Because if the time comes when it literally becomes compelling to leave for whatever reason, then one can do so. Hence my decision to get into the queue for permanent residency in Canada.
Right now, SA is still a fantastic place to live and I am very very happy here. I'm proud of Cape Town, and of SA. But.... I'm unsure about the future.
Since this is the forum for those who may want to come back to SA, I thought I'd show off a website I made, showcasing Cape Town to its best. I hope you don't mind me posting this here, as it's blatant self promotion, but I really think that if anyone is wanting to come back to Cape Town, or just fancies a trip down memory lane, then I think they'll really enjoy my site.

I love SA and I feel it's going to be heart wrenching to leave. I suppose you all know what I mean :-)
