KarlandLauraV
Hi AllI seemed to have been really enthusiastic to start posting on the site and forgot the do the normal intro...Well here goes..We currently reside in SA, Roodepoort and are in possession of our PR 175 visa. Hubby leaves on Sunday (2 Nov) to start our new life for us in Brisbane (Anyone else flying on the Singapore Air Flight on Sunday??)We have 3 wonderful little boys twins of 9 yrs and a 12 yr old who are all very very excited (and nervous) about us moving to OZ. Hubby is a refrigeration and appliance repair technician and as yet, does not have a job offer (we hope this will change once he gets there - companys are not keen to employ unless you are in the country). I am a personal assistant and GDB.Our app took about 9 months to process Dec 2006 to Oct 2007, the house took FOREVER to sell (approx. 7 months) and we are now wrapping up the final things in prep of our new adventure. The best thing about moving - the adventure and prospect of a new lifeThe worst thing - leaving our families and doggies (rather distressing at this point - we had the farewell bash yesterday)This forum is absolutely wonderful, there is so much advice and comeraderie amongst the people registered here....Thanks to all who have already offered advise and Hi to everyone on the forum...CheersLaurav

Nemo
Hi Laurav,Best decision ever. We have been living in Brisbane for the past 7 months. Great, and never looked back. Pity he is only coming on the weekend since we have a “SA Familie Kerskamp†this weekend at Maroochypalms http://www.maroochypalms.com.au/ with the AKA (Afrikaanse Klub Australia) in Brisbane http://www.afrikaans.org.au/ with lots and lots of South Africans all getting together.I think the support for your husband is very important especially in the beginning while busy setting up. I will be more than willing to assist with information where I can. Great Christian School: Christian Outreach College (Around 18 x SA Teachers, 20% children from SA, great support network)Website: http://www.brisbane.coc.edu.au/Area: Carindale (Menlyn size shopping centres)Church (very important for support):City Point ChurchPart of Christian Outreach college (Around 480 SA Families involved, really cater for the kids spiritually)Website: http://www.citikidz.com.au/ Best place to stay (for us) is the East to South of the city.Lots of South Africans in Wakerley, Manly, Cleveland areas (see googleearth.com)Not sure if he know someone here but feel free to send me his contact details and we can take him for welcomming coffee.Nemo

I will get hubs to contact you if he runs into problems once he is there!!Thanks againLaurav
