Ajay
Hi DD,The best place to get a full explanation of all the terminology (and there is a lot of it - you're right!) is www.immi.gov.au, which is the Immigration Department's web site. It is a very useful place to go anyway, if you're thinking about a move here.Cheers, Ajay
sa2auz
Can anyone give me a basic rundown of what all the terminology is? Like 457, RSMS etc etc...Hi thereAs Ajay suggested I think it would be worth your while to have a look at the immi site, as you will get a good idea of the different visas and explanations. Its well worth downloading the booklets as you will find them a great source of reference and will answer many questions. Here are a few things you might come across on the forum which might help in the meanwhile.SOL - Skilled Occupation ListSSASSL - Sydney and Selected Areas Skill Shortage ListENSOL - Employer Nomination Scheme Occupation ListIELTS - English Language TestENS - Employer Nomination SchemeRSMS - Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (This allows employers in regional or low population growth areas of Aus to fill skilled postions that they are unable to fill from the local market.457 - This is a temporary 2 or 4 year visa, where a company applies to be able to sponsor skilled people to fill skilled positions. The employer has to meet certain requirements eg, hire certain amount of PR and pay a minimum wage etc. The employer can then nominate individuals which meet their requirements and then the individual or the employer can then apply for a visa for that individual. RPL - Recognition of Prior LearningASCO Code - Is the Occupation Code The ASCO dicitionary is avalble from The Australian Bureau of Statistics - www.abs.gov.au.Good Luck
