Riekie
We are planning a road trip for December from Sydney to Adelaide: Sydney to Melbourne via the Coastal Road then Melbourne to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road then Adelaide to Sydney via the inland RouteAt this stage we are thinking of 2-3 weeks and have no idea if it is better to hire a motor-home or to travel by car and find accommodation along the way - any ideas on this? We also have NO idea what to see along the way - apart form the Great Ocean Road (which we believe has a few "not-to-be-missed" stops in itself). We also don't know how many days to allow for each leg of the trip (we will be spending Christmas with family in Adelaide, but other than that are completely clueless)!! If any of you have done any of these legs of the trip or maybe live along the route, please help out with places to see, stops to make..... We want to make the best of the trip and don't want to miss out on something because we did not know it exists. We are specifically interested in any photographic opportunities, spectacular views, lighthouses, shipwrecks, forests, cliffs, and places (and small towns) rich in history and culture - experiencing the real Aussie way of living.... Michelle
Riekie, Your family will probably know about a little german town in the Adelaide Hills called Hahndorf. It has a feel almost like Pilgrims rest. This website gives more information if you are interested. http://www.adhills.com.au/tourism/towns/hahndorf/
Annette
Hey Riekie! We're doing Adelaide to Melbourne via Great Ocean road in December then back via the inland route..... If you have a 4x4, you have to visit the Coorong, on the South Australian coast. Almost like St Lucia (without the humidity and crocs!). Oh, the blue lake at Mount Gambier Click Here for Limestone Coast website Oh, and of course, you'll be dropping in for a cup of tea with us as well....
