Keep Thanking God1 THESSALONIANS 5:18 CEV18 Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ.This is what God wants you to do.There are many things in life we may not understand. But wecan understand this verse, and know that God gave theseinstructions for our benefit, to help us -- not because God isso insecure that He needs constant thanks.When bad things happen, what should we do?Will it help to gripe and complain and feel sorry forourselves?No. That only makes things worse.When bad things happen they seem to contradict belief in thegoodness and care of God.But we must remember that there is an enemy, the devil, who isout to steal our faith, our peace, and our joy. We arecommanded in Scripture to resist him, staying strong in ourfaith.Giving thanks is a powerful way to resist the devil. Even whenwe do not understand, and it seems like things are out ofcontrol and going downhill fast -- we should force ourselves tostay in faith and be thankful.(I am not saying God is responsible for evil, or to thank Godfor evil. Newcomer Posted June 14, 2008 Report Share Posted June 14, 2008 Hi!I love your name! I'm just thinking i'll have to concentrate too much for a Saturday, to type it right!! Thank you for both your posts. Yes, we can depend on Him and that makes everything so much better. I think I would be busy for a day or 2 to tell about how God brought me where I am today, a long long road of 50 years of learning and struggling, but also wonderful when looking back. I can also testify of God's devotion to us and his unconditional love and commitment.
