Do you have to leave the country and come back for PR to be activated? Madelein Posted February 15, 2006 Report Share Posted February 15, 2006 You can apply for a skilled independant subclass 136 visa, but then you have to leave the country for app 5 days to re-enter Australia. We went that route. But, you can apply for a state nominated subclass 134 visa and do not have to leave the country, or the state that nominated you for 2 years. For the 134 visa, you must be on the skilled in demand list as set out by the DIMIA. Nurses usually goes this path, but I only learnt about it when we got back from a very expensive trip from NZ.
