From Riversdale SA
Hi maat.Hi, ek weet net van twee. SA essentials (Weet van een in Joodalup), and Cape to Ciro, in Perth. Enrica
RikaIf that is the way you are leaning towards, it might be worth your while to investigate South side. It seems that a fair amount of Saffers are moving towards Mandurah/Rockingham/Busselton/Bunbury way. So many of the products are avilable in the suppermarkets here, so the competition is stiff. You not only have SA Essentials, but most IGA's and Coles you can buy Chutney Rooiboos tea All Gold etc. Weight and Pay and some of the butchers stock some SA Products.Boerewors is in every supermarket and garage shop.Dont rush into anythingGood luckregardsEnrica

No, I will not rush into anything. I have a supermarket here in Riversdale which is also part of IGA, a Friendly Everyday. You see the scary part is that I have no idea what business is like in Perth, the attitude of people etc. I need to do a business plan when I apply and I want to look at all options. I also had restaurants here, Pizza & Pub combination that worked very well, but I am sure there is a lot of pizza restaurants in Perth.RegardsRika
Enrica
Hi RikaAmazingly enough , no there are not a lot of Pizza places.....a lot of the franchize places ie Dominoes/Eagle boys you know the ones that the box tastes better than the Pizza. Australians are very brand aware, which is a pity as it seem to me that there are not enough family owned eating houses that offer good quality food.Business is very tough in Australia and if you buy a franchises , it appears to me that only the franchise holder makes the money. The ideal would be to start a really good family resturant , then you franchise your own product. In my opinion there are not enough good family resturants, apart from the fast food chains.I am not sure what visa you are applying for , but I think if you are coming in on a business visa , a business plan is required with your application, but that not to say that that is the route you need to follow. The product we are also looking at selling (which is a franchise) is to households, corporate businesses, B&B, Hotels, Motels etc., very environmental friendly. This is such a big decision! But what ever will be will be!RegardsRika
Almost Aussie
Ander blantjang(chutney) is skaars maar net so goed soos Mrs Balls in enige kos.

Kyk maar nou my posts as jy wil, dan sal julle verstaan hoekom.Groeterika
Enrica
Almost AussieI agree with you , you can make your own "biskuit" , biltong en boerewors, as jy die tyd het. After a while that you have been in Oz it gets easier to spend those dollars , and then you dont feel to bad about the price you pay for Chutney and Boerewors. Unfortunately there is also no sausage that comes close to boerewors. And yes, Sa Essentials saw the gap in teh market, but if you speak to most people , I rekon they could do with some competion , someone to show them what friendly service is all about. Or perhaps I am now to used to the Ozzies always been so friendly and say thankk you when you aprt with your hard earned dollars for those small luxuries!!!! GraytoAuz
What about a spur??? I have read on a other post not really any good family restaurants in Perth - so there may be a good plan.
GerhardinOz
What about a spur??? I have read on a other post not really any good family restaurants in Perth - so there may be a good plan. There are many family restaurants in Perth, the thing is they don’t do it like in SA, well not exactly. I have heard stories of people trying to open Spur franchises in a number of cities but then they fail because the locals have a different taste. Maybe there are some around, but I haven’t seen any. I have seen many Nando’s around tho.

We have a Hogs Breath cafe which is similar to Spur (excellent steak) "and the portions are huge" as per the add !!!Leza
Nicci
I have previously posted a thread, about family restaurants.I don't think that this place knows what family entertainment is.Someone should open up an ozzie style restaurant with a kiddie play place. They will make a fortune. There are no places that I know of like that, except for McDonalds and those fast food places!Something to think about! Gean

GroeteRika
