They do not do "bulk billing" (that means charging Medicare rates) and you have to pay the difference between the amount charged and the amount of the Medicare rebate. If you are not on Medicare, you must pay the full amount. Private Health Funds will pay anything form 60% to 100% of the full amount. In Australia there is no maximum amount doctors may charge for services, so check with your doctor first.
