polly
Pleasure. Will add links as I find them. It is so great that most shops here have a website. Easy to check out everything beforehand. We haven't been here long and we found it was hard to find WHERE to go to find what we needed. Prices differ so much between places too.Added some bookshops and budget stores. Edited September 9, 2008 by polly

Ebreyten
Hi,No worries, Polly. I just added that to the thread because if all the guys out there are like my hubby then that would be the first shop they will bo looking for. My hubby must go to Bunnings even if it is just to walk around and look at all the cool DIY stuff then he is happy.I don't know if I said this before but Bunnings are quite cheaper on some of there products.CheersE
polly
It is the one series of shops we haven't been to. I am more the DIY than hubby. He's a true IT geek So getting him in there's interesting. One day...

polly
If in Melbourne, go shopping for food (and sundry) at the Victoria Market. Definitely worth it. Freshest early in the morning. Huge specials when they close in the evenings/ afternoon. We got our groceries for a lot cheaper than at Coles/etc.http://www.qvm.com.au/home.phpWe went this weekend (on the Saturday). It was absolutely worth it! Just get cash before you go. The queues at the ATMs is ridiculous. And take sturdy bags and some sort of trolley (you can rent one there).*addedAnd we are cooking a lot more adventurously, btw. So many fresh things available. And red meat is relatively cheap (compared to mutton). We also eat a lot healthier. Everything is fresh. Very little frozen. I know prices look steep, but it is not too bad when earning in $. You can get by. The green grocer for example will be cheaper than buying at Coles / Safeway / Woolworths and co.
