Barnone
as a prospective immigrant I have no experience on this topic ...see it is mostly done by auction & I do know is that as the holder of a Temp Residents Visa you may only buy land & build a new home in new developements or specially approved developments if you want to buy a 2nd hand property you need the approval of the FCB 1st
Guest Lara
From what I know you will require FIRB approval whether you buy land or a house. You cannot buy from someone else who is also on a temporary visa and if you decide you want to sell your house later on you cannot sell to someone on a temporary visa. www.firb.gov.au (read through FAQ)We're in Perth - there are auctions but I still think most of it is not done by auction but via the usual method with an estate agent showing the house.
