A new scheme plans to provide paid internships for graduates in subjects like law, medicine and engineering.

The plan is an initiative from Universities Australia (UA), with backing from businesses in the industries, which aims to reduce skills shortages and create more employable graduates, reports the Australian.

Job Network 'needs overhaul'

Toby Hall, writing for the Age, said that the nation's employment service system needs an overhaul, which has not occurred since its introduction 33 years ago.

Job vacancies still remain high

A new survey has revealed that residents in New South Wales are most likely to be searching for new work, with 21 per cent of them currently on the hunt, reports News.
