Whilst surfing the web I found the above website - has some good information. Check it out, just, when it comes to the weather, I don't necessarily think the it gives a true reflection, as it states averages, and to me that always distorts the picture!

Some more good sites for those who don't know where they're going yet:

Of course the minute you say you're doing something, everyone has advise for you then you have to go and check out whether it was fact/fiction. I was informed that the metropole areas are a bit harder to get successful applications in and that regional was better to start. This link has a list of those area's which are still very much open to migrants:

http://www.immi.gov.au/panoptic/search.cgi...le&num_ranks=10

Great to get a bearing of what is where and how far, right down to road name and in our case, how far from the ocean. Pick a place, any place...

http://maps.google.com.au/

And for a profile on said location (though sometimes not all info available - to Property Reports if it doesn't take you there straight away)...

http://www.domain.com.au/public/apm/defaul...x?mode=research

And then... (anybody seen that movie: Dude Where's My Car?)

http://australian.businessesforsale.com/au...an/default.aspx

And then...

http://www.realestate.com.au/

And then:

http://www.bom.gov.au/

Oh ja, and this site that I just found because it's always good to know the negatives. Everyone keeps saying that Australia has its problems. What are they though? Because when friends ask me, I am actually clueless in that respect.

Here is a link to recorded Crime Stats:

We have thought of Perth, but changed our minds to Brisbane. Now, I know for sure that this is the right choice.

Thanks Mara

Hi All

Can some one give some advise on the rust. Do you have a rust problem like Natal or is the sea not

as salty.

Thanks Charm's

Hi Charms

You will find rust wherever you find humidity. We have lived in Melbourne for 10 years and have not found rust to be a problem here, but it is very dry. I think if you are up in Queensland you may have a problem, but will leave that for somebody there to answer.

Hi Mara (or anyone else who can help)

My name is Marinda. My husband and I are coming for a LSD from the 2nd to the 14th of September 2008. We are entering in Perth and departs from Sydney. My husband is a printer and I'm a teacher (Gr. 4) We want to visit primary schools as well as the larger printing companies. We've heard that printers are on the jobs shortage lists for the South-Eastern parts. Do you have any suggestions of places to visit? I would really appreciate it. If you know about any South African get-togethers during that time, we would love to join.

We are so excited about this trip!!!

Regards

Marinda

Hi Marinda

Your message is not clear whether or not you are coming to Melbourne? I can give you info re Melbourne, but unfortunately I know nothing about Perth or Sydney, someone else would have to answer that. I suggest you start a topic with those cities in the heading, if you are only going to them. It may get you more replies. Only people coming to Melbourne would look under this section usually.

We are on the Gold Coast and about 6 km away from the beach. Rust is a problem if you leave things outside and it is not stainless steel, but nothing like in Durban. My Mother in law was in Shelley Beach and I remember what a major problem they used to have. The kids bicycles are left in the garage and no problem.
