alsgal
Hi all,Will be leaving on our validation trip on the 26th. Will spend just over a month in Aus.Have sorted out accomodation in Adelaide (staying in a self catering apartment on the esplanade in Glenelg) but still need to find something in Brisbane. We are only spending 2 nights in Brisbane but we are a family of 5 and I am finding it difficult to find something reasonably cheap to accomodate all of us. Would also like to be close to some amenities and not too far from the airport.Anyone got any recommendations - possibly places that you have stayed in?Any help greatly appreciated.PS - also looking to hire a car in Brisbane? Anyone recommendations for good deals? Thanks in advance Cheers,Paula
Mara
Hi AlsgalCheck out the following website. I have never stayed there myself, however, I have suggested it to other people and they were quite happy there. Do not be put off because it is a backpackers, as they actually have private rooms that you can have.http://www.brisbanebackpackersresort.com/c...AdWordsLinkPageMara
chatterbug
Hi alsgal,For car rentals I have used the following car rental company (it was back in 2003 however) Roadway rent a car:http://www.visitqueensland.com.au/getaroun...ls&ProductID=59The owner then was about to sell the business to one of his staff an ex Zimbabwian (not sure if this actually transpired) The have second hand cars at affordable prices and they were very reliable (they all have fleet car service/breakdown service for the cars - so you are covered). That's if you are looking for more affordable options, I have not done any recent comparo's but please check it out for yourself and compare with the normal big name companies. Maybe you could let us know, and we could share with others visiting Brissie?Check out www.ourbrisbane.com.au in the visitor's guide/accomodation section or just search for "accommodation holiday" in google - I'd focus on Fortitude Valley and Spring Hill as two more affordable areas in Brisbane, right next to the city. I'd go for self contained or apartment type accomm that are self catering - we lived in Spring Hill just after we arrived and it was actually a great option - can't remember the place where we stayed but there should be many options.Just as an example check out: http://www.stayinbrisbane.com/http://www.ourbrisbane.com/directory/atdw/...gs/9060100.htmlhttp://www.ourbrisbane.com/directory/atdw/...gs/9005224.htmlhttp://www.ourbrisbane.com/directory/atdw/...gs/9062281.htmlThis should get you started!BrisVegas BUG Edited July 17, 2006 by chatterbug
Guest colton
Don't be scared to use the backpackers. They aren't just for young people and are real good value for money. Just ask to have a look before booking in, some are really dicey but others are great. When hubby and I backpacked from Sydney to Cairns we only stayed in backpackers, in December peak season, never booked in advance and always managed to find somewhere to stay. Even had my mom stay in one in Sydney, she loved it. Would suggest that you book a double room rather than the dorms though, more privacey and alot less noise. They also welcome kids so shouldn't be a problem. Edited July 18, 2006 by colton
