Welding Engineering and Composites Engineering

My family and I will be arriving in Australia in June 2008, so we are going through the usual uncertainties regarding work etc. I have a small consulting business in South Africa (Vanderbijlpark) dealing with welding engineering and composites engineering. (Design and QA/QC of Fibre glass tanks, piping systems etc.) I would like to "open an Australian branch" of my current business in Australia, using my South African people as a "back-up" to doing some of the work obtained in Australia. This will only work if I can make enough contacts in Australia so that I can at least get a point from which to market my services.

I will be coming to Australia for the next 2 weeks (9 - 22 March 2008) Are there any people out there that can help me with contacts for contract work in welding engineering and / or composites engineering? In particular, work involving tanks, pressure vessels and piping etc. (Typically petro-chemical plants, pulp and paper, desalination plants etc.) It would be great if I could speak to people in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney about such work, as I will be visiting those cities.

So far I have some contacts in Perth, but my wife would prefer if we were to settle on the eastern side. (Around Sydney area) I understand that there is quite a lot happening in the Newcastle area, but I do not have any contacts there.

Is there anybody that could give me some pointers or contacts?
