We are currently looking for degree qualified Accountants and Qualified Diesel Fuel Injection Specialist Technicians. MIGRATION MUSINGS

In recent years, more occupations have been added to the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL) giving access to Australia’s General Skilled Migration scheme to a wider range of skilled workers.

Professions and trades listed on MODL attract extra points for workers with those skills or qualifications for points-tested visa categories, making it easier for them to come to Australia as skilled migrants.

The MODL now includes 34 professional occupations and 26 trade occupations. As at January 2006, the MODL will be reviewed on a 6 monthly basis to ensure that it remains responsive to emerging skill needs of Australian employers. This means that in the month of July there will be more changes to the current MODL list. Applications which have an occupation on the MODL receive faster visa processing to ensure that employers are able to fill skilled vacancies as quickly as possible. If you are currently on the MODL list you should think quickly about applying for your Australian visa before your occupation is removed.

Also, as at the 1st of July 2006, all Australian government application fees have increased and this will affect all applicants who have not yet lodged their visa applications. On a happier note, TRA applications no longer have a priority costing bringing the application fee from $AUD500 to $AUD300 and should take up to 20 days for MODL occupations under ideal circumstances.

FINANCIAL PLANNING

Newly released budget update: The Federal Government has released the latest report for this year's budget with many changes to superannuation and tax legislation. To find out more about how this will impact your personal circumstances, please call or email our financial planning team on 07 3226 4833, or email them at mark@aussiemigrant.con, gdonaldson@alphawealth.com.au.

FOREIGN CURRENCY

The Fed has raised interest rates 17 times in the last few years. The last rate rise last week was accompanied by a dovish tone suggesting further interest rate hikes may not be certain. The market had been expecting a more hawkish tone and as a result the US$ weakened against most major currencies. Prior to the announcement the AUDUSD was trading around 73 cents. After the announcement of the rate hike the AUD roared to 74.5 cents. Although the US economy is still strong, the housing market does appear to be softening. Further rate hikes from the Fed are still on the cards.

Certain commodities also affect the AUD, including Gold and Oil. An up-trend in Gold prices tend to be supportive of AUD (as one of the leading Australian export commodities), an upward trend on oil also tends to have the same effect, although that is more driven by USD weakness: an increase in energy costs effects growth potential for the world's largest industrialized economy.

Hi Ryan

you don't need this people ,why would you want to work through a consultant who is just going to take some of your hard earned cash ?

If you get the permanent visa you can come and work for any company.

If you can read these boards, you don't need an agent... we help each other! Are these ads allowed on this forum? (referring to first posting for migration agent, not recruitment referrals)

Personnel Concept Australia is a recruitment company rather than a migration agent and anyone looking for a job in Australia could use them.
