LSD to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide!

Hi Everyone,

My parents and sister will be leaving for their LSD trip to Australia on Sunday. They will spend 4 days in Sydney, 6 in Melbourne and 4 days in Adelaide. Is there anything that you can think of that is a MUST for them to see in these cities?

Any suggestions and recommendations will be appreciated!

As mens 'n monorail dagkaartjie koop, kry jy afslagkoepons vir o.a. die akwarium ens.

As hulle reeds in Sydney was, kan hulle bietjie uitwyk na Palm Beach, Blue Mountains, Wisemens Ferry, Hunter Valley of selfs Port Stephens - alles ten minste 'n dag uitstappie.

Ander opsies - as daar tyd is - in Sydney self: Hyde Park, St Mary's Cathedral, Botaniese Tuine en Tarronga Zoo - dit is maar die mees gewilde plekke. Daar is natuurlik baie kunsgallerye, museums ens - hang af waarvan hulle hou.

Riekie,

Wow, so baie dankie.

Guest Larry

Since nobody from Melbourne has come up with any suggestions, here are mine (I lived there for 11 years):-

Go to the top of the Rialto Tower (the tallest building in Melbourne) and get the layout of the whole city and inner suburbs.

If you are a sports buff, visit the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and go on a guided tour. - Good value.

Go for a walk around the Botanical Gardens just south of the Yarra River.

Stroll around the Queen Victoria Market and absorb the feel and smells of the place.

Walk around the Fitzroy Gardens and visit Captain Cook's old cottage. - It was moved from England and re-erected in the Fitzroy Gardens.

Take pictures of the Flinders Street railway station. Or have your piccie taken "under the clocks".

Have a cup of coffee or an Italian meal at a pavement cafe or restaurant in Lygon Street, Carlton, which is Melbourne's "Little Italy".

And now for the out-of-towners:-

Visit the Healesville Animal Sanctuary, which is about 60km east of Melbourne. There are loads of native animals and birds. There are regular bus tours there from the city centre.

Catch the Met (suburban rail network) to Belgrave and go on a tour through the Dandenong Ranges on the old "Puffing Billy" steam train.

Visit the wineries of the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula.

Here are a few pics that I have taken of the Melbourne area.

There are loads of other things to do and places to visit, but these are my choice.

Hi Pippa

I did send you an email offering our services. We would be happy to show them around or to have them for coffee or a meal. Perhaps they have questions that need to be answered whilst they are here, we are happy to assist.

There is nothing I can add to Larry's offering above - excellent choices.

Hope they enjoy their trip!

Hi,

Wow, thank you so much Mara and Larry. It all seems very exciting and I am all “green” not being able to go with them! The pictures are gorgeous and they will most probably get stuck at one of the Coffee Shops at Lygon Street, as they are absolutely in love the whole “Italian Vibe”.

Mara, I gave your number to my mom and they will most probably phone you up for a little kuiertjie one evening.

Thank you so much.

My family and I really appreciate your help.

Hey Riekie, neither do I........................perhaps I should not have used the word service.

As things have gone so well for us, I feel I have an obligation to make things easier for others that are arriving!

Hey Mara - never thought you implied that!! :) That's just a usual saying of mine!! Instead of going to a coffee shop and pay for their coffee, they can come & have coffee at my place and some cake & conversation too! :whome: Don't worry - I would never think that of you - and so would no-one else! :D

Pippa,

Daar is ook 'n draairestaurant "The top of the World" .

Hi Pippa

Well we met your parents for dinner tonight, went and showed them our favourite Greek restaurant in the city. Had a lovely time with them and have arranged to take them around tomorrow to show them a few places. They seem to be having a real good time! Thanks for the sms, I did reply, just sorry we did not have you with us tonight!

Hi Mara,

I’ve just received some sms messages from my parents. They are so grateful to you for showing them around! I really appreciate the time you set aside for them. I can’t believe that you actually took the day off to show them around.

Thank you for your sms. We were away for the weekend, but I could not stop thinking about you all meeting and having a great time. I wish I could be there, but we will hopefully meet early 2007 when we are planning to combine a LSD trip with my husband’s admission in Sydney.

Thank you once again. I can’t wait to see the pictures!

Have a great week!

Pippa!

Hi Pippa

Absolutely no problem, glad to help, I actually had a lot of fun today, looking at show homes with them. The homes were so lovely, by the end of the day I had nearly convinced myself to sell and build again!

Tomorrow they are on their own with the Melways (map book) and their hire car - I think tomorrow night's daily report will be a very interesting one!

We look forward to meeting the two of you as well!

You have a great week too!

More Johan,

Ek wens hulle was al terug.

Hello Annette,

My ouers het vir my genoem dat dit effens reen, maar dit het hulle nie juis gekeer nie. Hulle was so verskriklik besig met min tyd.
