Hornsby

Ok, so we decided to initially look for a place in Hornsby. It seems like it is still an hour commute for hubby, but he does that anyway now.

Is there anyone on the forum living on the area? Does anyone have any comments?

I still have time to change if you tell me that this is an area I should avoid, so please let me know.

Hornsby will be just fine. On the trainline, great shopping and very close to nature.

Yeah, I was looking at Hornsby myself a while back. On the line but almost at the edge of civilization.

Properties seem to be larger and cheaper on internet searches.

Not sure how long it will take or how much it will cost us to travel every day.

Still have to create a travel distance vs cost of travel and cost of housing vs time matrix to find the sweet spot.

On the invaluable site, 131500.com.au, it looks like the North Shore trainline takes between 42 and 48mins to get from Hornsby to Town Hall station in the CBD. Dont know about price but its a very pleasant journey. You will have a seat and you will get reception. Yes, housing prices for rentals and buying is cheaper than other Sydney areas. I have still not worked out exactly why.

I live 2 suburbs away from Hornsby and do most of my shopping at the Westfield there. It's a decent area, still north shore. As a general rule the further up the line the cheaper it gets but at a very slow scale.
