JohnB
Hi guys, I'm moving to perth in the new year and want to take my dog with. Is it worth going through an agent or is it better to do it yourself. Is there a big difference in price? Where can I find an Australian government approved vet in SA? Magenta
Hi JohnB. I have posted a lot of info on all the steps under the quarantine sticky. The steps are quite easy but it is important to ensure all the paper work is in order. I would use an agent for booking the flights and to ensure all the paper work is correct. The import permit can be done online. The quarantine can be booked via email. It takes about 7 months to get the dogs prepared. A rabies shot. Then a month later a rabies test (6 months before flight date).Your local vet will be able to tell you who your state vet is and how to contact them.Cost depends on the size of the dog. I had a Weimeraner (weighed about 33 kg) and in total it would have cost about R 60 000 a including the flight from Sydney to Perth.Good luck.
