Hi everyone

Please can you pray for strength for my friend Wilanda (Vee on the forum) - her brother Louis was in a motorbike accident last week in Seattle (USA) and he passed away in hospital a few hours ago.

At one time or another, every one of us will have the terrible experience of losing someone we love. We will stand at a cemetery, hear encouraging words if we are able to pay attention, and then have to walk away . . . leaving the earthly shell of our friend or family member behind.

In Genesis 23 we read the account of the death of Sarah, the wife of Abraham. In this simple story I believe we find some help for when we face the times of grief

Loving Father,

to you the dead do not die

and, in death, our life is changed - not ended.

We believe that all that binds us together

in love and friendship

does not end with death.

Hear our prayers for Louis

who has died.

As you have made each of us

in your image and likeness

and have called us by name,

hold him safely in your love

in your kingdom

of light, happiness and peace.

Lord,

welcome into your calm and peaceful kingdom

those who have departed out of this present life

to be with you.

Grant them rest

and a place with the spirits of the just;

and give them the life that knows no age,

the reward that passes not away,

through Christ our Lord. Amen.
