Howzit Jozi guys,

The list for Sunday's get-together is looking good. There will be 10 couples and counting......

To all the guys who have not replied yet. Come on! What can possibly be more important than time with forum friends? Except packing a container perhaps! :P

To the new forum members - You are most welcome to join in. Please let me know, so I can make the final booking by Saturday.

So looking forwards to this Sunday!!

Hi Milo,

Seems like the weather is going to be on the down side Sunday.

Do you think we should ask everyone with kids(smaller ones that is) to maybe bring along some colouring in books and stuff?

Just a suggestion.

Thanks

Nats

Hi Nats,

Good idea, but don't stress. Have plan B in action already! The restaurant has a big screen and I asked if we could have that area if it rains. Will put cartoons or something up for the kiddies. I also have a stack of colouring books and a huge box of crayons that will come with. You all just arrive, sit back and enjoy!

See you Sunday!

Hi All of you,

I've been thinking - all the nice people are moving out to Aus!!!

What a nice experience - Milo, it couldn't be better!!! :ilikeit::whome:

We kuiered and swopped ideas, those who didn't want to stay on coffee, had something else, the food was good, the venue was excellent!

It rained when we arrived, had a table ready for the kids, the cricket was on the big screen, and it looked if everybody played musical chairs so much they shifted around.

After lunch, it stopped raining, all the kids moved out and had a great time.

Unfortunetly, all nice things had to end - and Stuttafords will be at my home at 9 tomorrow

I took a few photos.....

Sorry, dit wil nie vanaand werk nie - nou sal julle moet wag tot na die trek - die computer word more gepak.....

Hi there

Sounds like you all had a great time, well done for organising.

It would be great if you could let us know a bit of feedback like where are most of you heading, 457 or PR, what are your biggest concerns etc whether you have done LSD's etc.

A cousin of mine arrives this week on business and if you are interested I can send back a few pamphlets from Woolies, local newspaper etc if she has the space and you are interested for your next get together.

Well done, hope to meet you all soon.

Milo yesterday was great fun - so given your marvellous organising skills, when are we having another JHB coffee club?

Howzit,

Sal weer so maak, miskien oor so 3 maande?

What I learned on Sunday -

1) Coffee Club is not the correct name for the Jozi crowd! I think I saw only 6 coffees between 24 people!

2) A jungle gym is more fun when it's muddy.

3) Afrikason's wife is very beautiful and pregnant.

4) Derrick is upset because he's not registered yet on the forum and wants to write a post.

5) Adele misses Nilo very much.

6) Wilna & Nick has triplets.

7) Eileen's (Owens) husband is very funny.

8) Nats has packed up her life in RSA, but have no visa yet.

9) Zoot is a very smart girl, but not smart enough, because she hasn't booked her ticket yet.

10) Jayjay's eyes closes a bit when he laughs and his wife is also pretty.

11) Alex knows people who ride around with blue lights on their cars.

10) Deon was scared to emigrate before Sunday, but I think we have changed his mind.

11) The other Deon will be in the UK for two years before they move to Oz.

12) Only Jayjay, Alex, Adele & Wilna knew each other before Sunday. But by 5.30pm we were all friends.

On a more serious note -

1) If you use the 40kg flight option, you can pack things in a box as part of your weight allowance. ie. toys, toiletries etc.

2) Don't give up trying for a sponsor. There are MANY out there.

3) If you enjoy camping, take your gear because it's expensive in Oz.

4) Put your house on the market as soon as possible. You can perhaps live with someone or rent a place. Your visa might be granted soon and then you're stuck with a house.

5) You will pay big money on tax in Oz, but you'll see it being spent wisely to improve infrastructure etc.

6) Prepare yourself, immediate and extended family for the big move. It is emotionally draining the closer your departure date gets.

7) Know the phases you will go through once in Oz. Make sure you are prepared and don't sit back and just let it happen. Get busy, stay motivated and throw yourselves wholeheartedly into the Oz way of life.

8) If you need help with anything, either while still in RSA or shortly after your arrival in Oz. Stay connected with the guys on the forum, they are all willing to assist.

9) All who are emigrating have done extensive research and did much soul searching before starting the paper chase, and are all an extraordinary bunch of people!

PS- we are applying for a 175 visa and will settle in Melbourne. Will not do a LSD trip (although hubby might go for interviews). My concerns are - will I choose the right school for my kids, making new friends, missing family in RSA. But all this is actually trivial things if you look at the big picture!

No man zoot! Although it would be nice to see you again you need to get yourself over to AUS hehe

Milo,

My door is open to you when we get to Melbourne. And just by what I saw on Sunday you really do not have anything to worry about re choosing schools or getting settled!

Wow! What can I say, you've covered it all.

Many thx for such a great experience, it moved me...oh that I can add, it realy moved me deep inside, the whole move takes a lot of introspection and let one question your personal views on life and your own existance. To see such a great bunch of people together, taking this opportunity full on and with both hands, no matter what their circumstances or where ever they are in the walk of life...that just motivated me all over again. Thx guys and girls, pls take many pictures and engrave your splendid experiences into your hearts, life is great.

Africa will always be in my blood and the dust under my skin; and I truely love its people with their pearly whites...but I won't be limited, not as a person and certainly not in spirit, and currently something is just a bit off and I will never offer my kids a hand-me-down experience of this beautiful thing we embrace as LIFE!

Praise God for you all, and may you find Him under your skin and His grace within your own heart - then dish it out without keeping back as you will surround yourself with a nation that can still appreciate it.

Untill next time.

;)

Hi Tash,

Yea, sorry you missed it. We had a great time that day. Mud and all!

February is quite busy for me and then the kiddies start with exams early in March. I was thinking that perhaps after the Easter holidays would be a good time to meet up again. Will keep you posted.

PS: I'm still trying to get the pics to post. Think I'll e-mail it to all who were there rather. (remember I'm blonde ;)
