Hi Jeanene

It's calles a 457, and the company who gave you the job needs to have applied for sponsorship & nomination of the position first, if they haven't, you can apply for the visa at the same time online, IF they have applied online.

This can take 8 weeks to 12 weeks to 6 months, depending on your company.

Go to www.immi.gov.au to find out about the 457 visa.

Good luck!

Not so sure if what you are looking for is what Liezel is telling you about. Tell us more about what your intentions are. A holiday, temporary stay and work to decided before you migrate ? ?

You get 2 types of business visas: short stay (456) and long stay (457).

For the short stay (valid for up to 5yrs, 3 month max stay) you need a letter from the company inviting you, letter from employer here and a few other things (all detailed in appl form). It takes about 10 days to get this visa. See: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/456/index.htm for more detail. You do not need police clearance for this visa type.

For the long stay (valid for up to 4 years) you need to go through an elaborate process. The company needs to apply and sponsor you with lots of requirements on them and you also need to process an application. See http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/sbs/index.htm.

Thanks 4 all the replies!!

We did apply for police clearance but they say it could take up to 2 months before we get it....

I am just worried that the company wants my husband to start working & then we are still waiting for the clearance... :ilikeit:

Thanks again for all the replies & advise!!!
