FromDurbs
I put my hand up to host a visiting Japanese student at my child's school for a week. You know, the kind of thing you did all the time for sport tours back in South Africa. Anyhow: I got a 15 page application form, house inspection, had to supply 2 references and have a working with children check for everyone over the age of 18 living in my house. I was asked about my pets, how many rooms we have, what furniture there is for the child etc. 1
Husky
And? Did you pass? Haha. We hosted a German exchange student for 6 months in South Africa. It was a wonderful experience.
Bonny
We hosted a French student in Brisbane for a week. We didn’t have to do any of that! Nothing, in fact.

Piet1234
My wife is a guide leader in the UK. I had to fill out a police clearance form and get some other certificate which says I am allowed to be around kids... just so I could help with the braai stand at the summer fair lol. It sounds over the top but there are some messed up people in the world. I would also like the people hosting my kids to be thoroughly inspected, you never know who they end up with. 1
