Getting a bike over from SA

TamTam

Question

Hi there

We had to leave a bike in a bike box in JHB because Qantas wanted to charge us R17 000. We are trying to investigate other options.

Does anyone have space in a container coming to Queensland or any other ideas for me. We are not in a rush for it.

Thanks

TamTam

You should be able to use any of the moving companies and send it across as groupage - if it's just a bike box it's likely to be really cheap to send in a groupage container. Just make sure it's really clean (no mud or dust or anything), obviously.

Hi @TamTam, have you managed to get your bike to Brisbane?

I've been trying to figure out how to take my bike and paraglider with when I come over. We're getting a move cube but I don't want to be without them for 3 months...

@Rossen we decided to send it using Seven Seas - they have an ''excess baggage'' option however we are sending it via sea which, as you know, will take around 3 months. But seeing as hubby as his second bike already in Australia we don't mind waiting. You could try sending it using their air freight option. The bike is costing R1600 to send plus $100 when it arrives and R2000 insurance. To send it via air was at least R8000.
