Yes you can - obviously if you have outstanding debt in South Africa you cannot financially immigrate. I stand to be corrected however I am sure that you would need to still complete a SARS tax return each year.

I know some people on this forum plan to send money back each month until their debt is paid up.

Yes you can. Your agreement with your credit provider may require you to inform them of an address change. They may not be happy with a change to Australia.

 

Also remember when you apply for credit in Australia you may be asked about amounts you owe, you need to include the South African Debt.

You can essentially have debt, bank accounts, own properties, businesses etc and still live in Australia.
