Shanette
Hi all, just wanted to know if anybody else successfully used Australian resumes to "fix" their CV's? Are they legitimate? Would you recommend them? Can't afford to waste R990.00. Any advice would be appreciated.
RYLC
You'll probably need to tell us who you are considering as we can't judge on price - only on who you are using. Some forumites have had great success with one particular company (will have to find the name) and they charge R4,500 so R990 looks really low just on costs.
monsta
I agree with Rylc. These services can run from someone using software to reformat your CV. Which a recruiter will do anyway before they submit your CV to a company.A good service will do things like switch out all the names their Aussie equivalent s. They will remove anything that could be used to discriminate against you. Obviously Aussie companies dont want to be accused of discrimination. A good CV rewriter will even use a format that won't get messed up when recruiter's softwarw reformats it.At the end of the day, it comes down to your skills, experience, which places you can work in (they won't accept anywhere in Melbourne) and how much you want to earn. But having a well written CV can make those key points a bit more obvious when recruiters are skimming through dozens of CVs. Guest
Hello Shanette. my husband had his CV redone in the ozzie format by Roland Coombes from Itouch resume solutions.Roland was recommended to us by Brid who is a forum member, her husband was in oz for 3 months without getting any interviews, Roland did his resume and he got several interviews and a job offer within 3 weeks. Can highly recommend him. Since my husband has had his resume redone hes had 2 skype interviews and awaiting for a job offer. Another resume writer who I can recommend is Carolyn Smith (Shes also a specialist in selection criteria). Both these 2 are not cheap though but in my opinion well worth the money. If you want a cheaper option then there's Roz Fisher who is highly recommended on the facebook forum. I will post all links below.http://www.resume-solutions.com.au/Resume-services/more_about_resumes_services.htmlhttp://carolynsmith.com.au/http://www.miningresumesetc.com/about/There are definitely some people who say they are resume writers but are not worth it, so you are very right in asking here. :-)
Shanette
Thanks very much but I found a way cheaper option already. I downloaded a full package for CV's, cover letters, LinkedIn, finding the sponsored jobs and more for only $35.00. Found her on LinkedIn. Shanette
It is Nadine Myers from Nab that Job. She gives everything you will need in one package. I am not affiliated with her company just wanted to help others who might be searching as I was.
Shanette
She is even about to release a free online course to help people get started with their job search (hopefully later today) at: http://www.nadinemyers.com, i think that might be helpful . Hi Shanette, thanks for the link to Nadine Myers. Have you had much success with the re-done CV? I'm about to have mine redone, but are a little hesitant considering it is quite expensive to have it done.
