Heymanse
What is the cost of private health fund for people on a 457? Trying to find out what it would cost for a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 teenage daughter).
AndreaL
Private medical works based on two adults, the number of kids doesn't matter ( I'm not sure about kids over 21 though) anyway, I did a search on iselect and Australian unity would come up with cover for them of $342 per month http://www.iselect.com.au/CDSX/OVCRecommendations.actionWe were with Medibank private and paid just under $400 on our 457.Overseas visitors cover is much of a muchness, I think IMAN is one of the dearest but give more back for dental, chiro etc.More info here http://privatehealth.gov.au/healthinsurance/overseas/ovhc.htmAlso remind them that they will have to apply for a medicare levy exemption certificate at tax time so as not to pay the Medicare levy from their tax.

OubaasDik
Do a search on overseas visitors cover Australia and you'll get lots companies that you can get a quote fromAs an example http://www.bupa.com.au/health-insurance/overseas-visitors-working-visaRanges from $42 / week to $135 / weekI'm not advocating Bupa, I'm using them as an example. Bronwyn&Co
I believe dependant children aged 21 to 25 can stay on your medical aid for free as long as they are still full-time students. If they are not studying you will have to start paying in extra. Or they leave yours and get their own. After 25 they may no longer stay on yours.
