Hi Guys

Brand new members here. Just want to introduce myself to the forum.

Me and my wife gained permanent res. and will most likely do the big move around October (exited and nervous at the same time).

I will certainly be asking for some much needed advice in the future. I read through some of the topics and the advice & tips have already made a world's difference - thanks!

Take care and chat soon!

Cheers

Luan & Nadene

Hey there Mullers, welcome to the forum and family. Fire away as many questions as you want. This forum certainly helped us through the process and journey.

Congratulations on the PR and good luck with the planning. :ilikeit:

Thank you for the encouragement guys. Good to know there is a community out there that can help and motivate you with probably the biggest (and most stressful) decision of our lives.

Lynnie, we will most likely settle either in Sydney or Melbourne. Depends on the job situation.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the PR.

We are awaiting the grant letter from our CO (please CO, my nervous are finished...) and then heading to Melbourne as soon as possible.

Fire away with any questions and it will be answered.

Congrats on your VISA! We are still in the prep stage, but as you shared the Forum has been most helpful with a great community around it.

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on the visa, that's one major stress out of the way. What are your occupations...............perhaps we can advise on agencies, recruitment sites............or just support you along the way.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Much appreciated.

My occupation on the shortlist is "Spatial Scientist". I mostly do GIS type work and consult businesses and specifically retailers on where they should open new stores and what their expected turnover should be (my clients in S.A. include McDonalds, Nando's, Virgin Active, Spar, Ster Kinelor etc.)

Nadene just finished her LLB last year but will mostly focus on conveyancing in Oz.

I think my work is very specialised so my best guess to a job would be the larger more corporate cities like Sydney or Melbourne. I am right or wrong is saying that?

Hey, Welcome Luan & Nadene :D Not sure about your line of work. The best way is to look for jobs on the Australian job search websites. Seek.com.au is one of them and you will get a general idea of where the most work in your line of work is. I don't know if anyone else has any other suggestions? or knowledge of where the best place is to live work wise for them??

Hi and welcome!

Sorry I don't have any advice, but would guess that is correct, though I would also ditto checking on the job sites like Seek and seeing where you get the most hits. :)

All the best!

Welcome on the most awesome forum on the web !! :ilikeit:

Congratulations on your PR and good luck on the job hunt - don't despair because your job is specialised, there are many ways to at least eventually get to where you want to be. Sometimes it takes patience, working for a while in something 'less' than what you're qualified for, building up contacts and networks. But chances that you will 'get there', is good as people get to know and trust you.

All the best !!
