KalahariHarry
Hi All,Well i have actually today received my positive Vetassess results (a 4 month wait) Under normal circumstances i would be able to now apply for state sponsorship on my own accord, not needing an employer. However Canberra have changed the rules as they so often do. What i now need is a "joboffer" or "letter of intent" than a prospective employer would, once i am in the country seriously consider employing me. Obviously a legitimate "job offer' would carry more weight with the state of Canberra.I Understand that i am not there, and i understand that one cannot simply employ someone from halfway across theworld. But this has thrown a big rock in the works. If i get a sponsorship letter, its only a letter so no commitments nor official sponsorships would be involved, then the process would take maybe 4-6 months to complete.Although my experience is in my own business and managing my own two bodyshops in Cape Town, my Degree and category for entry in under the category of "marketing specialist". Would you be in any position to help me in thisregard, or know of anyone that can help me regarding a "job offer".I would appreciate your help or advice, as i have come far in the process and it seems i have hit a brick wall.I Look forward to your soonest responses. If Anyone has contacts in Canberra in Marketing, Sales, Key account management or Anything relating to Marketing at all, PLS PLS PLS get in touch.Trev
PinkPanther
It sounds like this is for the 190 visa? When did they start requiring such a "letter of intent" or "job offer"? It's been a couple or so months since I've read the requirements, and maybe I missed that, but I don't remember seeing that. I'm guessing it must have happened recently? AndreaL
It appears to have something to do with what are termed " Limited or Closed Occupations", outlined in the 190 guidelines http://www.canberrayourfuture.com.au/portal/migrating/article/act-occupation-list/ Overseas residentsIf you are living overseas, you can seeknomination of a closed occupation if you have:Aclose family member who is resident in Canberra; orAgenuine offer of employment from an ACT employer.Theoccupation is verified before you lodge your application.See the Section - How to seek verification of your limited or closedoccupation

KalahariHarry
Hi All,Yes the need for an "offer" is due to the occupation "marketing specialist" being closed.@Orion - Any employment in the line of Marketing/Sales/Business management would be beneficial as it pertains to my Degree and Vetassess occ, The guy in car sales at VW would be a good lead. Please do what you can and get back to me I'm freaking out over here...Trev
McCabes
trevor - google the marketing/sales agencies/companies in Canberra and send them your CV and a cover letter explaining that you are looking for employment but also would greatly appreciate a simple letter showing that they would consider you employable if you were on-shore.I've heard a few people say that they got better results contacting companies directly. I'd email them, then follow up a day or so later with a phone call (if you can) and see if anyone is willing to help just with the letter, even if not with an actual offer of employment.Good luck!!! AndreaL
Fantastic news Trevor, I hope the agent and ACT are happy and you can get things moving. I know it has been stressful for you, but to land with a job and p.r. is a great start.
KalahariHarry
Not the best offer pay-wise. But as you say its good to land with a job. Even if I stick it out for a year for that all important aus experience, or I may progress quickly if I work hard and prove myself. Either way. I hope the letter is good and at least I can get things moving.... thanks all for all the support!!! Trev
