Hi Eugene

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure a lot of welcoming posts will follow soon.

There are a variety of visa options available permitting people to live and work in Australia, both employer sponsored and skilled independent visas.

For starters do a bit of research on the SkillSelect section of DIACs web site. You need to find out if you meet the requirements for an occupation on the skilled occupations lists - the SOL or CSOL.

Then for example if you are looking at the independent route (probably the 189/190 visas) whether you meet the selection criteria and the points requirements. There are details on DIACs web site - alternatively I do have a points calculator and list of the occupations on my web site www.TaylorMadeImmigration/PointsCalculator submit the details and I provide a basic overview.

After a bit of research the above will all become clearer and the folks on here are great support.

Hi Eugene

Welcome to the forum. Hubby is in mining and things are a bit quiet at the moment with quite a few cut backs and lay-offs, that said it depends what your speciality is as there are always vacancies for specific skills.

getting into the mining industry in Australia can be tricky....everyone wants in and even once in there are loads of competencies and tickets required before you lose your 'yellow hat' status.

Let us know a bit about yourself and perhaps those forumites in the mining industry can direct you as to where to look. In the mean-time the first thing is to start looking at the DIAC site and looking to see what type of visa you would qualify for. Have a good read through this and shout out with any questions you have.
