About to embark on an incredible journey...

No turning back now.

My husband did the visa application. I looked on with big eyes.

My husband sold our Defender. I looked on with wet eyes.

My husband put in his resignation. I looked on with wide eyes.

...then it hit me that this is real...

We have a buyer for the house. Relieved.

We have said goodbye to our hound, comforted that he is in great hands. Heartbroken.

We have had many family occations. Emotionally exhuasted.

...then it hit me that time is running out...

We need to fix & clean.

We need to arrange and pack.

We still need to do so much - and now the questions start flowing.

Anni, whatever you're feeling - be assured there are people here who have probably felt something similar.

If you need to reassurance, there are people here who understand.

@ OubaasDik - I see you have a Bully as your profile pic. Do you have one in AU?

We just gave our beautiful 6yr old male away. Sob, sob?

I wish.

We left my old 13 y/o in SA when we came over.

They're not popular here, unfortunately.

Pity, they are one of the near perfect animal companions.

We had white females on the farm while I was growing up and when I married, I had a lot of convincing to to but my husband consented and we travelled to Cape Town from PE to fetch the pup. A beautiful red with white chest - so we named him Redd. I could not have asked for a better temperament or build.

I am not ready for another dog for a long while - settling in on that side is our first priority. However, my children may miss having a dog around - I certainly will.

Hopefully when the time comes, we can find a few good Bully breeders. I have seen many opinions about the breed change over the past few years (my husband and his family for some). Thanks to those who nurture the intended characteristics of the breed responsibly.

Until then, I have tax, shipping, flights and lists of items to still tick off.

Thanks for the support, advice and future advice.

Just yesterday, we moved into our new house, it was 100m down the road and it was exhausting. I've forgotten how hard the move to another country is!

Welcome and good luck. See you on the forums.

Ah, I liked the coloured ones - I ended up with a lovely little girl - I should have called here Johannesburg, because she was black and brown with one or two white patches. Instead I called her Edelweis (from The Sound Of Music) - because when I got her, she was small and clean, but I knew she'd never be either white or bright.

I miss her, I really do. Bringing her over would have been impossible, she was 13 and arthritic - and after I left she went downhill so rapidly it was astounding - I went back a year later and she was at the inlaws who had decided that the premium "old Dog" food I was buying her was a waste, and she could hardly walk and was blind and deaf. She got my scent and tried to jump up on me - it was pitiful. I cried for her.
