Gautenger: Hi

Gautenger

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I have been part of SACanada for a few years now as the business host. I was hoping to move there ASAP as I don't see a future for our daughter in SA. Our first choice was OZ or NZ, but the points were too high, so CA was next on the list.

But alas the mighty other half didn't want anything to do with the snow. Luckily NZ have changed their points so we now hopefully qualify.

I am obviously still situated in Gauteng, but hopefully that will change soon

If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to PM me or ask via the forum. I am a web designer so spend lots of time online and will help where I can.

On the flip side I hope that there will also be a few SA NZ'ers here that can answer some of my pressing questions.

Hi Gautenger

My girlfriend and I are also looking to immigrate to Australia, but I spoke to a immigration lawyer. It seems a bit impossible for us as well.

We are thinking of trying New Zealand as well, but I first want to see how their test system works etc. I am a webmaster and only have a 2 year diploma, so I don’t know if that is going to help.

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks

Etienne & Wilna

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Etienne, NZ have also changed their points over December, you can read more about that HERE as well as do the points calculation thing too.

Good luck & keep us posted. I am arranging a gettogether on the 25th Feb for folks in Gauteng that want to / are in the process of moving to NZ. This is going to be in Honeydew, so if you are in the area & want to come, PM me with your phone / cell no and I will contact you.

Hi Gautenger and Etienne,

My hubby and I left SA in 1999 and went to Auckland in NZ where we lived for 3.5 years. We moved to Sydney in 2003. My hubby is a project manager and I am an organisational change manager (change driven through technology).

There is a SAfrican group in Auckland. See http://sanztrust.org.nz/ . They assist ex SAfricans to integrate and socialise. We only attended one of their get togethers so I don't have much more info. There is also another group called the Afrikaanse Klub http://www.afrikaans.org.nz/english.html . I've only heard of them so can't tell you more.

I'm happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Hi SASydneysider, thanks for the welcome.

I am sure that myself and Etienne will take you up on your offer of advice, thanks we appreciate it.

I have checked out the sanztrust site, but it is not of much use, will look at the Afrikaans Klub site, thanks for the lead.

I have been chatting on the move2nz.com site, great bunch of people on there, but manly British folks so their point of reference is not quite the same. What is cheap for them is expensive for us and often the other way around.

Hi Gautenger (and everyone else). The Afrikaans Club is mostly a social club whereas SANZ focusses on business connections, although they may have other services available.

Other NZ links include:

(South Island) http://www.sinzasa.org.nz/

(Wellington) http://www.saiw.org.nz/saiw_home.php

(Afr in Christchurch) http://www.aquinin.com/afrikaans/

(Personal website) http://www.kiwiboer.virafrikaans.com/skakels.htm

http://southafricankiwis.tripod.com/

There are many others but I don't have links for them at the moment.

The most valuable info seems to come from the people themselves. SACanada is an excellent example of this and I am sure SAAustralia will be too.

Maybe we could persuade the Moderators (Hendie maybe) to set up a SANewZealand. <_<

I believe you are giving up to soon. IT skills are assessed by ACS and they require BSC or 3year diploma with experience or 2 year full time diploma and 6 years experience. You'll have to do RPL as well. PLEASE make sure you do not comply, there are so many skills the agents do not know them all.

Hi guys, thanks for all your answers. We really do appreciate it.

We are still young and unfortunately I only have a 2 year diploma and only 4 years web design experience. I don’t want to work here for another 2 years before starting our immigration process.

I’ll study all the info on those sites you guys have given me.

Thanks again.
