Keglin Posted May 3, 2012 Report Share Posted May 3, 2012 Hi everyone,Hubby and I are trying to sort out when to arrive in Canberra.We were thinking end of September and then we would give ourselves a couple of weeks to find a rental property.However we realised that then we would be looking to rent a property middle of the month?Question is ...... Do most rentals start at the beginning of the month? People are paid fortnightly mostly so there isnt that sense of beginning and end of month like in South Africa. When you arrive you arrive, there will be rentals immediately available, some may only be ready in a month's time - it all varies. Basically if you see a place you like and it is immediately available they ask you on the application when you want to move in and then after they have done all their checks and you are the preferred tenant then you are ready to move in on your selected date. And that's the same for Sydney and Brisbane, so assume it's country-wide.Book your flights according to when is cheapest and most convenient for your departure as it won't matter when you arrive as far as rentals are concerned. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Macarat Posted May 5, 2012 Report Share Posted May 5, 2012 We stayed in a furnished apartment in Reid http://www.stayz.com.au/73786 until we found a more permanent home. Moved in to the furnished apartment on the 10th and into the more permanent one on the 26th.I would highly recommend the apartment in Reid, Mechelle and Jamie were superb and even had a welcome basket for us with home made bread and toys for our kids.
