Where And How To Apply For 457 Work Visa

Hi all, hope someone could answer a few questions please? My hubby was given 3 letters of appointment from 3 different companies for employment as truck driver in WA, but he has to apply for his own 457 visa. Where to from here??? Is this positive or is the visa the hard part to get, in fact, will it be possible to get, seen that truck drivers are not on the short skilled list? He is an ex-Zim/South-African. Hoping there would be someone out there that could help? How much does it cost and how long does it take to get? Thank you so much....Mrs H

Have the companies agreed to sponsor your husband on a 457 visa? The 457 is an employer sponsored visa, you can't just apply for one.

The 457 visa is one of the quick and easy ones. If you managed to secure a job, you also need to secure a sponsorship by the employer in order to get the visa. Firstly the employer needs to be an approved sponsor, then the role (truck driver) and then the applicant (your hubby). They can't offer him the job and say sort out the visa yourself, as there's quite a bit of paperwork which they will need to provide etc. Ask them which migration agent they use (and check that they're an approved sponsor).
