We Are Adding A Little Stowaway In Our Cargo

With just 7 weeks left before we leave for Adelaide I discovered with a BIG shock that we are expecting our 3rd baby! I am nearly 6wks pregnant and my head is spinning!!

I have had wonderful support of fellow saffers so far who have been there and done that, which has settled my worries a bit..

I am still scared, worried (finances obviously the biggest contributing factor) but still looking forward to starting our new life in Aus..

Think of us, I know it won't be easy, but we are going to give it a try!! :ilikeit:

Wow, a huge, big congratulations !!! O my, this is special ! Our third one was born this January and it is absolutely wonderful to have 3 little ones in the home. Don't worry about the finances, you'll be fine. Remember, if you have PR, you'll be liable for a 'baby grant' once the baby is born, as well as some financial support if you're going to care for your children yourself, at home.

Enjoy every moment, it is precious...

K, I know you think its a obstacle now, but having a baby on PR is truely a blessing. I am now doing my second "free" PR baby and would not ever have it any other way. My experience is for Sydney, so I suggest you ask people for Adelaide tips specifically, but the process is the same. I am 26 weeks and so far I have only payed for parking in the hospitel car park! All the best wishes.

Congratulations!!

Thought I'd let you know - you are not the only one - found out a few weeks ago that I'm unexpectedly pregnant with a third baby.

Good luck - we're going to need it!!!

Karina and Sibella, congrats ladies. No need to worry at all. My experiences have really been great. With our PR we have not been out of pocket at all with either child. That was specialists (if necessary), planned c-section, private room, great hospital food, etc. Just could not fault them. Like I said, the only thing we payed for through out the entire 9 months were parking at the hospital, laughable actually! Total of which came to well under $60. And then got my $5000 for having the baby, plus he got his Aussie passport within weeks and he gets about $130 every two weeks deposited into my bank account! Join this website for Australian baby info, priceless. http://www.bubhub.com.au/index.php Then, people who do not take advantage of these markets are completely crazy. http://www.babykidsmarket.com.au/ We go almost every month, for clothes, high chair, cot, pram, sleeping bag $10, books $1-$5, toys (Fisher Price garage $15, FP plane $8, karaoke/keyboard $10, fancy wooden bike $10, change mat $8, Avent bottle steamer $10). Most things either never or hardly used. Or buy on ebay. You could ask women in your intended cities for more precise advice. But, if is the same as here in Sydney, you have to go find and visit a GP as soon as you arrive and then phone your local hospital, anywhere from 8 weeks pregnant, to give them your estimated due date and get your foot in the door. They will tell you what to do then.

Congratulations, my daughter had all 3 kids here. Fantastic service from the Flinders Hospital. All 3 were prems as well. With the PR visa it cost her nothing. If we were still in Cape Town with medical aid it would have crippled her.The neo-natal unit and staff were great. The wid-wives do everything here unless you are going private. We had friends that went private and complained about the doctor they had. They live in the south.Doctor and hospital were in the north. You are best to go public it's the same doctors and rooms like private. Plus you save on the little rand to dollars exchange, every penny counts when you first arrive. Go up to the Flinders Hospital if you are staying in the south or Womens and Childrens if you are in the city or north. Book an appointment with the mid-wives one less thing to worry about, I'm sure your friends won't mind taking you.:) Also check with your gynie about an injection for flying to stop clots forming in the baby. We have had a number of preggie guests and they have done this as it's the long distance flight. Enjoy the rest of your day.
