THE OPPORTUNITY

Join the thriving office and work in a small team of 7 people as the Senior Structural Engineer. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Structural service and for managing projects. Although you are in a stand-alone role in Alice Springs, you will belong to a wider network of Structural Engineers within the Northern Territory including a small team in Darwin. Structural projects are varied and include: schools, apartment blocks, office blocks, and more. Half of your time will be spent on site, such as conducting site inspections or attending client meetings, and the other half of your time will be spent on design work in the office. There will be opportunities for you to grow a team, or to continue in a stand-alone role.

Essential requirements

* The ability to design and solve structural engineering problems autonomously in accordance with Australian Standards. Note: you will have access to drafting resources.

* Experience with managing small and medium sized structural projects including tenders and fee proposals. Experience with commercial and residential projects is ideal.

* A track record of delivering work on time and within budget.

* A confident communicator who is skilled at building strong client relationships.

* Effective written communication.

* Able to work as part of a remote network, and maintains a high level of communication with structural professionals in the Northern Territory.

Desired Skills and Experience

* A minimum of 7 years working experience as a Structural Engineer.

* Working knowledge of MicroStran and RAM or Rapt.

Qualifications

* Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent

* The ability to gain N.T. Registration as a Professional Engineer, within 6 months of employment.

* Membership with the Institute of Engineers is desirable
