For travel to Mel or Sydney VAustralia is still cheaper, around R7800-7900.
Oryx
Thanks Benp. When they mention "local taxes" is that RSA or Aussie taxes or both? And what does your figure include?I tried to find dates to qualify for the R5000k offer. But then I would need to go for more than 4 weeks. Then the car rental and accommodation eats up all the savings anyway.Cheapest possible was around R 5 900 + taxes = R8 000. Then I still need to get to JHB. So the total pricing is very close to SAA's total quote of R 36 722 for a family of 4.Definitely very good price, taxes are about 2100 per adult, so ticket works out to R7100,very very competitive if you’re going to Perth. I had a quick squeeze on Qantas web site and there are still plenty of tickets available @R5k+taxes for May/June period, with return trip any time within 3 weeks, from few days to 3 weeks. Even R8k you quote is still very good price, 'normal‘ price for round trip to Oz and back used to be R9-10k. We also need to get to Jhb, but I'm waiting for another Kulula special R399 one way CT to Jhb, luckily we only fly in September, so no panic.Total Price = R7051.00 * (ZAR) 1 adult x 7051.00 = R7051.

pkn
To Perth would be SAA, you can then use low cost airlines to cross country to Melbourne/Sydney/Adelaide/Brisbane.
newbie27
I flew jhb - Melbourne (through perth) on 27 April with the SA/Qantas special. I booked online, and actually found the SAA website offering the same flight significantly cheaper than the Qantas flight. I paid R8057 return.
