Just another thing:

Dont know what your circumstances are, but also remember that your permanent residency must be stamped (evidenced) into your passport (Aussie dont mind if you dont have it in as they can see it on their computers, but South AFrica cant and wont allow you on the plane if its not in your passport.)

Even though Gareth is living at home, he is not a dependant ie full time student, he would need his own travel insurance policy. Your daughter is covered under your husbands and your policy.

Oh, thanks Enrica  I had that feeling, so will have to get quotes for him too. Thanks for that info, appreciated :)

True. When we did our visa activation trip I presented our SA passports at the check-in counters at OR Tambo. They looked very puzzled when they couldn't find our visas, so I reluctantly produced our Croatian passports which have the visas stuck in. I was worried they'd start questioning me about holding two passports, but they didn't even bother - they just wanted to see the visas.

Yip, all our Passports are stamped with our visa's and I checked is valid for 5 years. Yip Hubby and kids will leave on their British Passports and re-enter SA on Hubby's SA Passport but Gareth will have to produce his ID book because he does not have a SA Passport.

Hi Kathy,

I used 1cover and i had excellent service from them. I was sick during my trip to South Africa in October and they paid for all my medical bills. Here is their website address http://www.1cover.com.au/

Diveup

Hey Diveup,

I also had a look at 1Cover now, as we will be visiting later this year when I have to take the kids to see their biological father. I have just one concern - I don't want to have to go to a government hospital in an emergency situation. Do you know at all whether it covers hospital and specialist etc costs for semi-private hospitals like the Life or MediClinic hospitals? I cannot imagine having to go to a government hospital in any emergency situation. ;)

I know, that is exactly what puts me off, we are so spoilt here in Auzzie. ;) I will check that website out, thanks for the help.

Only 6 more sleeps, I think I need medication now, because my stomach and heart is palpatating so much from excitement it is just unbearable. ;)

Thanks guys! :D
