Guest May
Hi Kento,The site is about supporting those making the transition so my question I hope will not seem forward but rather out of concern because it affects your availibilty for the job. Companies are not keen on looking at people unless they know you have your visa and are in Aus already, I am just speaking from experience on being on the site a while and having a BCom.Do you have a CA qualification? If its a 175 PR skilled Visa because are you sure your time frame is realistic? I got police clearance in November and got my visa in August. Our medicals have been sent across to Oz, and we are now waiting for Police Clearance. Sent to Pretoria 1st December, so hoping to get the clearance shortly. Our Agent in Brisbane says that once we have this it takes approx 6 weeks to get the visa. Hoping he hasnt made a mistake!Kind regardsKento Edited January 3, 2009 by kento
Superkruz
Kento,I am a Financial Controller in Brisbane and was helped by Bentley recruitment, here in Brisbane. The agency is owned by a former South African, Brenda Jameson. Since I started to work here, I have used them for other accounting placements at the company where I work and they were very helpful.May is quite correct in saying that companies prefer to consider applicants that have visas, or even better, that are here in Australia. That does not stop you from contacting them and establishing a relationship with your arrival in mind. You can speak with Brenda or with Rachael Moss, one of the recruitment specialists. Their website is http://www.bentleyrecruitment.com.au/and if you click on the consultants tab, you will see all the people that work there. Click on their name to get their email address. If you want you can mention my name (They know me as Will), they know me pretty well as I recruit people via them fairly often. They should be able to give you a fairly good idea of what your chances are of getting a job, any vacancies they have etc.Good luck. Guest May
Kento,I think the fact that you have an agent that is Australia-based counts in your favour time-wise, so 6 weeks might be possible. BestMay

Joefromsa
Hi RajI know your post was directed at Willem, I would like to add my comment if I may....I presume you are of Indian descent... you will feel at home in any of the major cities, plenty Indians in all cities. You can even buy samoosas anywhere. There is a similar site like this one, Indians in Australia... will try and find the site address, very helpful. Employment opportunities are available in all major cities for CA's.. in terms of number of opportunities, my rating would be 1, Sydney, 2, Melbourne, 3 Perth and 4 Brisbane... no 1 being the best opportunities... and so on...Hope this helps and best of luck.joefromsa
