Skoonmaak

Ek het so asdrommetjie hier langes my lessenaar.

Die blerrie “environment†maak my sommer gatvol.

In elk geval, ek is gewoond daaraan dat ten minste een maal per week ‘n meme verbykom wat my asdrommetjie kom leegmaak.

Ek wens hulle will bietjie by my huis kom kuier.

Ek did besluit to tweetalig write, but dit becomes deurmekaar! And die verbs sit all in the verkeerde place... :)

Meskien must ek try om every tweede sentence te alternate?

Translate my posts in to Afrikaans?

Does this international symbol describe how ludicrous that would be on my part? :):D:holy:

Yeah, right, only if forum members are prepared to endure " immigrant Afrikaans" standards.

You know, a picture of a stick man with labels pointing to various bodyparts and space to put the Afrikaans words there.

Perhaps we all have to learn to speak neither English or Namlish, but Auslish?

I think BB did the Namlish IELTS ...oh no. He hasn't DONE that yet.

Hey all,

I think that BB does his Afrikaans post for the reason that sometimes you can say things in your "local" dialect so much more artfully no matter how good your Engrish is....

It is also quite funny the way he says it - like i will never be able to (in any language)

So I know its a "bummer" and it "sucks" and it makes you "gatvol" etc but translating poetry also doesn't work

Sorry guys but you know some stories are just better in "local"

Nothing beats my children! They are trilingual! Only us understand them! On our Australian visit we got the funniest frowns from people as they Understand(English), dont understand(Afrikaans), understand, dont understand, etc etc when my kids spoke to each other. What can I say, they are third culture kids, but that is also ok. They would be fully trilingual in a year or two. (read, write and speak)

Just a note, we NEVER taught them how to read Afikaans - they taught themselves - we speak Afrikaans at home and read the Bible in Afrikaans -

Off the topic I know, but had to add my bit (2 cents worth)!

When Afrikaans becomes 'a tweede taal' in Australia?

HHmm...

Last time I checked Afrikaans was considered as one of the indigenous languages of Australia as noted on the immigration website. So if they can acknowledge it, we should speak it?
