polly
We stayed here the first few weeks. Beautiful little place. The school there is rated quite highly. It is very close to a small beach. Everyone walks everywhere. Lots of little parks and things. The negative of staying here is if you work in the CBD, you need to take the Westgate bridge. Traffic across can be problematic. On the plus, the train takes 10 minutes to Flinders street station. So, these photos are from July / August 2008Some playparks:Trains and railwaysSome houses]Beaches, parks, yacht club and oceanWestgate bridge and views of the city from the bridgeScienceworks Museum is fantastic for parents and kids. Battiss
You have a knack for getting the good ones. Thanks Polly! Is the weather as "manic" as everyone says??The parks/play areas are gorgeous.. Edited December 1, 2008 by Battiss
polly
The weather changes a lot, but I feel it is a little predictable. If the wind is gusting really strongly and suddenly everything goes calm, expect hard rain. You can also see the clouds come in. To me it feels very much the same as Cape Town weather. It is very dry: washing dries on the line within half an hour, in summer, even if there's no wind. It is windy at the moment, just like the Cape is over the holiday season when the Gautengers go down to Cape Town to complain about the wind Winter is very wet and cold. The extremes in temperature are a little worse, but the houses seem to be built for it.

Tarok
Polly,Thanks for these pics, we haven't ventured over to the west yet but this gives us a great idea of what to expect.Ah yes, the weather... LOL, as a former Capetownian I must admit I don't think it's too bad - the only real difference for me is the humidity, which isn't too bad I guess (well so far so good ). If you live along the bay you can normally tell from the sea or the heightened fly activity whether bad weather is on the way, same as in SA Rudi
polly
NP. Probably won't get to it today. Hubby is off on a business trip, but will try tomorrow (Book sale on Thursday )
polly
Apparently Williamstown is popular over weekends and evenings. People go to have dinner at the restaurants on the shore overlooking the yacht club. Then you get those views of the city.
